Our 6NW unit is a dynamic progressive care Surgical Stepdown unit with 32 beds. Our team of nurses is specially trained to care for post-transplant patients and those who have undergone other surgical procedures. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Surgical Stepdown, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing direct and indirect patient care services with a focus on safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and patient protection.
• Educating patients on disease prevention and restorative measures.
• Administering medications and therapeutic agents necessary for treatment.
• Performing skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiating peripheral venous access.
• Observing and assessing signs and symptoms of illness or reactions to medications/treatments, and initiating emergency procedures when necessary.
• Planning and implementing individualized patient care based on observations and following standardized procedures.
• Adapting care to meet the diverse needs of patients, including cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, gender, sexual orientation, and developmental considerations.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN or higher preferred).

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

• Current California State RN License required.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Specialty Certification (external applicants may obtain within one year of hire).

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of recent acute RN experience in the specialty (1 year considered for Registered Nurse II).
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Demonstrated dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
