We are currently seeking Registered Nurses to join our 6NW team, which is a 32-bed progressive care Surgical Stepdown unit. Our nurses in this unit provide specialized care for post lung, liver, kidney transplant patients, as well as those who have undergone other surgical procedures. They are an essential part of our multidisciplinary team and play a vital role in the care of solid organ transplant patients.

As a Registered Nurse in our Surgical Stepdown unit, you will be responsible for delivering patient care to our specialized patient population. In addition, you will:

  • Provide and document direct and indirect patient care services, ensuring the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients on disease prevention and restorative measures.
  • Administer medications and therapeutic agents necessary for treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitation.
  • Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiate peripheral venous access.
  • Observe and assess signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, and general behavior and physical condition, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on observations, referrals, and standardized procedures, considering the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Identify patients' readiness for learning and ability to follow instructions, while also addressing safety concerns related to their age, development, and cultural background.
  • Adapt care to meet the specific needs of patients, considering factors such as cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, educational, family, and condition.

Educational Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
  • Current California State RN License required.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Specialty Certification (external applicants may obtain within one year of hire).
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of recent acute RN experience in the specialty. Note: Registered Nurse II may be considered for those with a minimum of 1 year of recent acute RN experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
  • Demonstrated dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
