Our Department of Pharmacy consists of a dedicated team of over 450 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. The OpportunityAs a hybrid Oncology Outpatient Pharmacist at our Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive direct patient care to leukemia, lymphoma, and other cancer patients. Your responsibilities will include therapeutic drug monitoring, review of chemotherapy orders, supervision of sterile compounding activities, and providing drug information to optimize drug therapy. Additionally, you will be involved in research protocol review and oversight of research medications.
As part of this role, you will also support the development of oncology diagnosis-related guidelines and provide patient education through our oral chemotherapy specialty pharmacy program.
Requirements- Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited school of pharmacy in the USA.
- Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.
- BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and common disease states.
- Ability to understand and apply patient medical management plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to teach and mentor others.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations, compounding, and pharmacokinetics.
- Adaptability and ability to prioritize workflow.
- Familiarity with automated information systems used in pharmacy practice.
- Strong patient-centered communication skills.
- Computer skills necessary to perform job functions.
- Exceptions to these requirements can be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, occasional sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances up to 10 feet.
