Job Opportunity: Clinical Nurse II, Oncology

The Clinical Nurse II, Oncology is a Registered Nurse who provides direct care to Oncology patients in an outpatient setting. You will follow approved policies and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of care. Your role will require strong decision-making skills and proficiency in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills to manage patient assignments independently and safely. As a Clinical Nurse II, Oncology, you will create care plans, set goals, prioritize tasks, and deliver care within established practice standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assess the needs of oncology patients and identify learning needs.
• Review lab diagnostic data to inform patient assessments.
• Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives to enhance the care of oncology patients.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan patient care and education based on disease processes, expected outcomes, treatment complications, and psychosocial needs.
• Initiate appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Demonstrate proficiency in technical skills, such as IV therapy, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics.
• Establish IV access using peripheral or central catheters and administer IV therapy as ordered.

Education:

Associate's Degree/College Diploma in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

License/Certifications:

• Valid CA RN license required.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
• ONS Chemo/Immunotherapy Certification required.

Experience:

One (1) year of acute care experience in specialty required. Excellent IV skills are necessary, and previous chemotherapy infusion experience is highly desirable. Oncology nursing experience is preferred.
