On our 12-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) known as 4SCCT, Registered Nurses provide care for patients who are acutely ill due to potentially life-threatening heart or blood vessel diseases, or have undergone invasive cardiac procedures. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the CICU, your responsibility is to apply the nursing process and deliver patient care for our specialty patient population. In this role, you will:

• Provide and accurately document direct and indirect patient care services with a focus on patient safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection
• Offer patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures
• Administer medications and therapeutic agents necessary for treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitation
• Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiate peripheral venous access
• Observe and assess signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, and general physical condition to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics. Initiate emergency procedures when necessary
• Plan and implement individualized patient care based on observations, utilizing appropriate reporting, referrals, and cultural considerations
• Identify patients' readiness for learning and their ability to follow directions/instructions. Ensure patients' safety with respect to age, psychosocial, cultural, and other needs
• Adjust care to specific populations' needs, including cultural, spiritual, age, gender, and sexual orientation considerations

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or higher preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

• Current California State RN License required.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support certification.
• For RN III: Specialty Certification (external applicants may obtain within one year of hire)

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years recent acute RN experience in specialty. Note: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II)
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Demonstrated dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
