The 8South unit consists of two 24-bed Surgical units that provide specialized care to adult patients who require hospitalization before and after surgical procedures and trauma injuries. Our cases primarily involve colo-rectal, bariatric, urology, plastics, GYN, gender affirming, ENT, oncology, and general surgical procedures.

As a Registered Nurse IV on 8South, you will be responsible for supervising and applying the nursing process throughout patient care delivery.

• You are an expert clinician with extensive knowledge and expertise in a specialty as well as general nursing.
• You consistently excel in all aspects of nursing practice, including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration.
• You handle complex and unpredictable patient care situations and act as a nursing leader.
• You serve as a resource to the nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community in order to advance nursing.
• You apply clinical knowledge of standard care to optimize interventions and save time and cost.
• You have a deep understanding of regulatory requirements for patient assignment, task delegation, documentation, and overseeing care for the delivery team.
• You are dedicated to providing excellent customer service and meeting the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
• You exhibit leadership qualities through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Educational Requirements:

• BSN or higher degree required.

Licenses/Certifications:

• California State RN License
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
• National Specialty Certification (i.e. CMSRN)

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of acute RN experience, including 3 years in the specialty area
• Demonstrates required clinical competencies for the assigned specialty
• Maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for at least one (1) year
• Received an overall performance evaluation of "Strongly Meets" or higher.
• Meets clinical criteria and protocol of Clinical Nurse IV
