8South is composed of two 24-bed Surgical units that specialize in the care of adult patients requiring hospitalization for pre and post-surgical procedures and trauma injuries. Our cases predominantly involve colo-rectal, bariatric, urology, plastics, GYN, gender affirming, ENT, oncology, and general surgical procedures.

As a Registered Nurse IV on 8South, you will be responsible for supervising and implementing the nursing process throughout the delivery of patient care.

• Utilize your expertise to demonstrate high standards of knowledge and skills in a specialty, as well as general nursing.
• Show excellence in all aspects of nursing practice, including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration.
• Manage complex and unpredictable patient care situations, displaying leadership in the field of nursing.
• Serve as a valuable resource for nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community, contributing to the advancement of nursing.
• Apply clinical knowledge to optimize interventions for time and cost efficiency.
• Demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignments, delegation of tasks, documentation, and oversight of care for the delivery team.
• Show dedication to customer service, ensuring the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues are met.
• Demonstrate leadership through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Educational Requirements:

• Must have a BSN or higher.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Must possess a California State RN License.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Preferred: National Specialty Certification (i.e. CMSRN).

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of acute RN experience, including 3 years in a specialty area.
• Must meet specialty-specific clinical competencies for the assigned area.
• Must have maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for at least one year.
• Must have an overall performance evaluation rating of "Strongly Meets" or higher.
• Must meet the clinical criteria and protocol of a Clinical Nurse IV.
