We are currently looking for Registered Nurses to join our 24-bed Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) on 6SCCT. In this role, you will care for patients who have undergone surgical procedures such as open-heart surgery or heart and/or lung transplant. Our highly qualified healthcare personnel are equipped with specialized equipment to provide continuous and intensive monitoring and treatment during the acute phase of recovery following major surgery. As an RN in the CSICU, you will be responsible for providing patient care to our specialty patient population. Your duties will include:

• Providing direct and indirect patient care services with a focus on safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection in a timely manner
• Offering patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures
• Administering medications and therapeutic agents as part of treatment plans
• Performing skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiating peripheral venous access
• Observing and assessing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, and general physical condition to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics and take emergency action when necessary
• Planning and implementing individualized patient care based on observations and providing care to patients with diverse cultural backgrounds
• Identifying patients' readiness for learning and their ability to follow directions/instructions while considering safety concerns related to age and developmental considerations
• Adjusting care based on the specific needs of different populations, including cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, education, family, and condition needs

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or higher preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

• Current California State RN License required.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support certification.
• For RN III: Specialty Certification (external applicants may obtain within one year of hire)

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years recent acute RN experience in specialty. Note: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II)
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Demonstrated dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
