About the Role:

Join our dynamic surgical stepdown unit, 6NW, consisting of 32 beds. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Surgical Stepdown unit, your role will involve caring for post lung, liver, kidney transplant patients, and those who have undergone other surgical procedures. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and provide direct and indirect patient care, administer medications, perform tests, and collaborate with patients and their families to educate them on disease prevention and recovery.

Your Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care services, ensuring the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients.
• Provide patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures.
• Administer medications and therapeutic agents as needed for treatment, prevention, or rehabilitation.
• Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiate peripheral venous access.
• Observe and assess signs and symptoms of illness and initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
• Create individualized patient care plans based on observations and provide culturally sensitive care to patients with diverse backgrounds.
• Identify patients' readiness for learning and their ability to follow instructions, while ensuring patient safety.
• Make necessary adjustments to meet the unique needs of patients, considering factors like age, culture, and gender.

Requirements: Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or higher preferred.

License/Certification/Registration:

• Current California State RN License required.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Specialty Certification (external applicants may obtain within one year of hire).

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of recent acute RN experience in specialty. (Registered Nurse II may be considered with minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience).
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
