About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse on our 8N and 8NE units, you will provide care to patients with specialized needs. On 8NW, you will care for patients undergoing spine surgeries and procedures. On 8NE, you will care for patients with various neurological conditions, including brain tumors, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries. Your responsibilities will include:

• Administering medications and therapies to implement treatment and preventive care.
• Educating patients on disease prevention and restorative measures.
• Providing direct and indirect patient care services while ensuring their safety, comfort, and personal hygiene.
• Performing skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiating peripheral venous access.
• Observing and assessing patients to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics, initiating emergency procedures when needed.
• Planning and implementing individualized patient care based on observations and providing culturally sensitive care for patients from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintaining a safe environment for patients and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN or higher preferred).

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

• Current California State RN License.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
• For RN III: Specialty Certification (can be obtained within one year of hire for external applicants).

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of recent acute RN experience in a specialty setting. (Note: 1 year of recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II).
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Demonstrates dedication to customer service and meets the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
• Meets clinical criteria and protocol for assigned level of Clinical Nurse.
