The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for gathering and verifying important information such as demographics, insurance benefits, and eligibility. This ensures accurate billing and clinical information by assigning the correct medical record and account number. The Admissions Coordinator performs various job tasks as assigned. This is a full-time position with an evening shift schedule of 2:30pm - 11:00pm x 4 days and every other weekend (same schedule).
What You Will Do:
- Ensure accurate data entry.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Gather complete and accurate demographic and financial information from various sources.
- Obtain required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
- Perform pre-certification, credit referral, or deposit collection.
- Enter data in the computer system and document any incomplete admissions/registrations.
- Notify patients, family members, physicians, and supervisors of insurance coverage issues.
- Review physician's orders for completion and ensure all required information is listed.
- Complete Medicare compliance and obtain ABN if necessary.
- Have knowledge of insurance rules and regulations.
- Maintain and operate multiple computer systems.
- Provide positive customer service and assist callers on the phone.
- Complete all shift duties in a timely and accurate manner.
- Comply with safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
What You Will Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in a hospital setting or medical office using insurance websites.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
