Job Description

Reporting to our Global CFO, Jellyfish is looking for a Global Financial Reporting and Tax Director to work with our Group Finance team and external parties, supporting our global business.

You will be the global reporting lead for Jellyfish, providing technical accounting and compliance advice to the Senior Management Team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for preparing consolidated financial statements following Jellyfish group reporting and audit deadlines.
  • Responsibility for the preparation and filing of Jellyfish UK subsidiary financial statements.
  • Responsibility for managing financial statement preparation, audit, and filing of Jellyfish subsidiaries in non-UK jurisdictions
  • Overall responsibility for managing the year-end Brandtech Group audit of Jellyfish entities.
  • Responsibility for preparing CAPEX journals and asset values for internally developed intangible fixed assets following IFRS.
  • Compile IFRS calculations equivalents (along with US GAAP equivalents) along with supporting schedules for audit for the following standards:
    • IFRS 16 - Leases
    • IFRS 2 - Share-Based Payments
    • IFRS 9 - Financial Instruments
    • IAS 38 - Intangible Assets
    • IFRS 3 - Business Combinations
  • Work with external tax experts and Brandtech Group Global Head of Tax to prepare tax computations and returns for all global entities.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules of tax payments, charges and accruals globally.
  • Undertake research into overseas withholding taxes for combinations of ‘billing from’ and ‘billing to’ territories, and advising on the most appropriate combinations.
  • Maintain and calculate the Group Transfer Pricing model and quarterly charges, along with local and master files prepared by our external consultants.
  • Advise and assist with the merging or dissolution of historic subsidiary entities following our strategy.
  • Provide advice and support to the general finance team in all aspects of financial accounting and tax:
    • VAT / Sales Tax
    • Calculation of interest on loans
    • Calculation of FX gains and losses on translations of assets / liabilities 
    • Accounting entries for more complex journals outside normal business
    • Intercompany recharges
    • Revenue recognition
  • Lead a team of 2 people

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or similar) with 10+ years post-qualified experience with an accounting practice background
  • Experience in Group Financial Reporting roles, in the media, advertising, or marketing industries
  • Prepare global consolidations
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and their practical application, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) & US GAAP and FRS102 (UK GAAP)
  • Experience coordinating external audits and working with external consultants and authorities globally 
  • Dealing with technical accounting areas such as IFRS 2 share-based payments, business combinations, disposals of subsidiaries, Internally developed intangible assets, impairment reviews
  • Strong analytical orientation and financial analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to help design clear process delivery and to help facilitate change
  • Proficiency with Google and/or Microsoft Office Suites, with particular skill using Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel to perform complex data analysis including Pivot Tables and Macros
  • Experience working within a matrix environment
