Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Supervise the daily operations of the maintenance technician workforce in repairing, maintaining, cleaning, troubleshooting, and installing all equipment in the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Functions)

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

 

  • Supervision of maintenance technicians.
  • Coordinate with maintenance planner and production to develop work schedules.
  • Manage scheduling and approving pay using software application tool, verbal communication, and/or physical. posting. Schedule overtime and vacations.
  • SAFETY: LOTO, QEW, Confined Space entry, Emergency Response, and general safety practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Training and development of maintenance technicians.
  • Completing performance review of direct reports. Issuing disciplinary action for attendance and performance issues.
  • Responsible for KPIs related to maintenance department.
  • Implementation of projects for improvements and changes.
  • Participation in the recruitment and onboarding of new hires.
  • Monitoring all processes for optimal performance and reacting to deficiencies.
  • Troubleshooting abnormal conditional of all equipment in the facility.
  • Participation in the development of SOPs and other training and instructional documentation.
  • Ordering parts, tools, chemicals, and lubricants.

Performs other duties and responsibilities, as necessary.    

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education:  High School Diploma or GED*

Required Experience:   3+ years of equipment maintenance in manufacturing, including hydraulics, pneumatics, & electronics

Preferred:

  • Associates or Technical Degree in applicable field
  • Experience in meat processing and packaging plant.
  • Wastewater, water treatment, refrigeration, boiler,  and/or engine/machine room experience
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System(CMMS) and Scheduling Software.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Must demonstrate effective leadership, problem solving, presentation, and employee motivational skills.
  • Proficient in Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and facility maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, and/or electrical/mechanical
  • Ability to maintain and handle multiple functions/ tasks relating to the day-to-day operations for Jack Links
  • Proactive style that ensures the completion of projects despite obstacle
  • Actively seeks to utilize a “Collaborative Team Approach” in all situations
  • Continually strives to influence a positive company culture and leads by example
  • Ability to train

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

While performing the duties of this job the Team Member will be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (i.e beard/hairnet, ear plugs, frock, boots, etc), stand for extended periods of time, and use hands/arms to push, pull, reach and occasionally lift above head.  The Team Member must occasionally lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds and 50 pounds infrequently. Team Members are requested to visually inspect equipment and/or product.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant setting with wet/slippery floors, varying degrees of temperatures with an average temperature of 40 degrees in the production area.  Team Members will be exposed to raw and/or cooked meat products, and moving equipment and will be required to follow all Food Safety Quality requirements.
