Job Description

As the State Sales Manager for the NSW region, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and executing the sales strategy across the state to achieve revenue, profitability, and market growth objectives. This role provides leadership and direction to the sales team, builds and maintains strong customer relationships, identifies new business opportunities, and ensures the delivery of exceptional customer service. You will also play a key role in driving sales performance through effective planning, coaching, and performance management while aligning state operations with the organisation’s strategic goals and values.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fostering a high-performance culture that aligns commercial success with the organisation's values and desired behaviours.
  • Driving profitable revenue growth through effective sales planning, execution and performance management.
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Inside Sales Account Managers (ISAMs).
  • Providing ongoing leadership, mentoring and support to maximise individual and team performance.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews, development discussions and succession planning activities.
  • Recruiting, onboarding and developing high-calibre sales talent as required.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
  • Leading commercial negotiations and review high-value proposals and quotations in accordance with delegated authority guidelines.
  • Partnering with BDM’s to identify and develop high-growth customers, including opportunities exceeding $1M annual spend.
  • Developing accurate sales forecasts.
  • Providing timely weekly and monthly sales performance reports to the Head of Sales.
  • Monitoring sales activity, pipeline health, opportunity conversion and productivity metrics to ensure team KPIs are achieved.
  • Ensuring customer retention, revenue growth and margin objectives are achieved across the state.
  • Acting as the senior escalation point for customer and prospect issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Driving a customer-centric approach that strengthens long-term partnerships and business growth.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing B2B sales teams.
  • Strong coaching, leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales growth, revenue and profitability targets.
  • Experience managing strategic accounts and leading commercial negotiations.
  • Strong forecasting, budgeting, reporting and sales pipeline management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer outcomes, profitability and organisational objectives.
  • Ability to influence, motivate and drive accountability across diverse sales teams.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Familiarity with CRM (Salesforce.
