Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial reporting through month-end close activities, accruals, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and audit support. This position partners closely with Finance, Operations, and the JV Accounting Team and reports to the Corporate Controller.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.
Month-End Close & Financial Accounting:
- Accrual Management: Calculate, support, and book monthly journal entries for physician compensation accruals, operating expenses, locum tenens fees, and medical supplies.
- Operating Expense & Trend Analysis: Conduct monthly financial reviews of department-level operating expenses, analyzing trends and budget-to-actual variances to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare timely and detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations (including payroll liabilities, physician advances, prepaids, and accruals), resolving reconciling items efficiently.
- Facilities Reporting: Prepare reporting required by various landlords quarterly.
Audit & Process Optimization:
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, the JV Accounting Team, and Finance to ensure accounting alignment.
- Audit Support: Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external financial audits and internal compliance reviews.
Compliance:
- Assist in compliance activities where needed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- 7+ years of accounting experience, healthcare experience preferred.
- Detail oriented, strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and professional character to interact with individuals at all functional levels.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong multi-tasking skills to manage time effectively and juggle priorities to meet deadlines.
