Company Description

It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.

We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.

The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.

If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.

Job Description

Primary Function of Position

We are seeking an experienced pricing analyst to serve as the senior analytical resource for pricing across Intuitive's full portfolio, spanning capital systems, instruments and accessories, service, and digital offerings, working at the intersection of Sales, Sales Operations, and Finance.

Pricing analytics is where the team's strategic position is built: quantifying how price, portfolio mix, and acquisition structure move margin, adoption, and customer economics. This role produces forward-looking analysis that shapes pricing structure before it is requested, rather than responding to individual quote requests.

The Senior Analyst supports business units bringing pricing proposals to the price council and other governing bodies, supplying the proposal analytics and presentation materials those decisions rest on while the business units own the recommendations themselves. Working across Sales, Sales Operations, Contracts, Financial Planning, and Product Marketing, this role converts transaction, utilization, and contract data into insight that senior commercial and finance leaders act on.

This position reports to the Director of Pricing and Customer Finance and is based in Atlanta, GA or Sunnyvale, CA.

Roles and Responsibilities

Portfolio Pricing Analytics

  • Lead proactive pricing analytics across the full portfolio, including capital systems, instruments and accessories, service, and digital offerings, surfacing margin and price-realization opportunities ahead of the annual pricing cycle rather than in response to individual deal requests.
  • Perform deep portfolio analytics covering price/mix, attach rates, and product utilization by market and customer segment to inform portfolio-level pricing decisions.
  • Identify and interpret trends in contract portfolios, capital pipeline, and procedure production datasets to uncover opportunities for accelerating da Vinci and Ion adoption.
  • Develop and recommend pricing structures that respond to growing global competition.

Pricing Science

  • Apply pricing science methods, including hypothesis design, elasticity testing, and willingness-to-pay analysis, across product lines, acquisition methods, and customer segments.
  • Use the scientific method to test pricing hypotheses and translate results into structural pricing recommendations.
  • Synthesize predictive analysis on customer lifetime margin.
  • Model comparative economics across acquisition methods, including lease versus purchase, to equip commercial teams with defensible customer-facing analysis.

Price Council and Pricing Governance

  • Provide the proposal analytics that support business units through the price council process, quantifying revenue, margin, and competitive impact for proposals those business units own.
  • Build the supporting analysis and presentation materials that carry pricing proposals to price council and other governing bodies.
  • Pressure-test analytical assumptions ahead of submission, surfacing sensitivities and trade-offs for the business unit's consideration.
  • Maintain the analytical standards and templates used in council submissions, and track approved decisions through to realized impact.

Analytical Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain the models, dashboards, and data foundation that make recurring analysis repeatable and self-service for stakeholders.
  • Establish deep understanding of the company's products, services, and pricing philosophies.

Executive Support and Communication

  • Translate analysis into recommended pricing structures and programs, and socialize results and rationale to commercial and finance stakeholders.
  • Prepare executive-level materials and recommendations, and support senior leadership on a regular and ad hoc basis.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in pricing, financial analysis, or commercial analytics.
    • Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of experience may also be considered if they have demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a pricing analytics workstream.
  • Proven ability to build financial models and analytical frameworks that inform pricing and commercial decisions.
  • Advanced skill in Tableau, Excel, and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods applied to pricing, including elasticity and price testing.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and financial modeling, including multi-year contract economics.
  • Ability to build and present proposal analytics to governance forums and senior stakeholders, and to substantiate analyses diplomatically on a routine basis.
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills across product, commercial, and finance teams.
  • Comfortable working across several concurrent workstreams with limited direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates analytical problem-solving ability and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to pick up new skill sets quickly.
  • Willing and able to travel 10-15% to support of strategic pricing initiatives.
  • This role requires working onsite in our Sunnyvale, CA office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week.

Required Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field; Master's degree desired.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Background in or familiarity with the healthcare industry, medical devices, and hospital operations.
  • Experience supporting a pricing committee, price council, or comparable governance process.
  • Knowledge of equipment lease structures, residual and buyout mechanics, and end-of-term outcomes.
  • Experience with R, Python, or comparable statistical tooling.
  • Familiarity with enterprise transaction data in SAP and quoting data in Salesforce or a comparable CPQ platform.
