The Revenue Technical Accounting Principal plays a critical role in achieving our overall objective of delivering best-in-class financial reporting based on best-in-class processes, tools and building strong and agile teams that display the highest level of integrity and character. The Company’s operations have grown significantly over the past several years, especially in its leasing business, and with it, the level of complexity we are facing. The Revenue Technical Accounting Principal will own the revenue and lease accounting policy, accounting for non-routine revenue and lease accounting transactions, and be an integrated team member of the revenue accounting organization.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

The Revenue Technical Accounting Principal plays a critical role in ensuring that we deliver the highest quality financial reporting in analyzing and assessing the accounting implications of contracts that we enter into when we sell or lease products.

The Revenue Technical Accounting Principal is responsible for, together with the overall revenue team, ensuring that the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting our contracts to shipping our products and billing, is executed effectively. This is done through effective coordination with the global Contracts team, Customer Finance, Sales Organizations, Accounts Receivable Department, Order Management, Logistics, FP&A, and the Executive Team.

This position has responsibility for the following:

  • Own the Company revenue accounting and related policy to ensure it is effective, adhered to, and up-to-date with U.S. GAAP, and that the Company is compliant with all applicable rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Conduct research on accounting literature and partner with key functional business teams to collection information pertaining to non-routine complex revenue and lease accounting transactions. Prepare technical accounting memos on these transactions.
  • Work closely with our auditors to drive conclusions on complex accounting issues. Build a strong and effective professional relationship with our external auditors to ensure effective coordination of quarter-end review and year-end audit activities.
  • Assist with the timely execution and review of month-end and quarter-end close activities (including, but not limited to: deal review, account reconciliation, analysis, and reporting).
  • Assess new accounting pronouncements to determine their impact on the Company and drive the implementation.
  • Own training materials and conduct trainings for revenue and lease accounting policies.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or equivalent.
  • Certified Public Accountant. (Required) 
  • Minimum 5+ years of public accounting and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Public accounting experience (Required) (Big 4 is preferred)
  • Strong technical accounting skills in ASC 606 (multiple element arrangements).
  • Previous experience in lessor accounting (ASC 842) is a plus.
  • Superior communication and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization; inclusive of written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of departments, follow-through on commitments, and manage progress of projects effectively is critical to be effective in this role.
  • Strong leadership, analytical skills, project management, teambuilding, process management skills.
  • Ability to build and develop strong teams, along with establishing the right culture.
  • Ability to work productively in a dynamic environment and be a solutions-oriented team player.
  • Experience with enterprise accounting systems, such as SAP is a plus.
  • Must be willing/able to work onsite 3 days/week in our Sunnyvale, CA office.
