Job Description
The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for directing effective and efficient warehousing and outbound shipping operations. Overall responsibility of all functions that occur within the physical warehouse. Supervisor should be able to ensure that productivity targets are achieved, and all warehouse processes are executing to meet 100% on time and in full key performance indicators. Must be able to manage outbound shipments, dock times, and space utilization, as well as coordinate team staffing.
They must have excellent organizational and communication skills at all levels of the company. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in this role.
Essential Functions:
- Strategically manage Shipping Warehouse according to Intersand's policies and vision
- Oversee warehouse and outbound shipping operations
- Continuously work on space layout and ensure efficient utilization of space
- Maintain tight working inventory of all Finished Good items and provide monthly and yearly reporting
- Maintain a clean, organized, and functionally operational warehouse space with the ability to recognize areas of improvement and lead the corrective action process
- Responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of Finished Goods throughout the facility
- Represent the Shipping Department by attending and actively participating in various organization meetings. This includes presenting data, discussing key initiatives, as well as updating team on shared information
- Establish collaborative working relationship with Manager, Order Revenue & Logistics
- Partner with the Supply Chain Coordinator related to Shipping schedule for maximization of dock time and meeting daily / weekly / monthly targets for inventory shipped and DIOH
- Maintain standards of Safety and Security of Shipping Team in compliance with Intersand Policies and Procedures
- Achieves financial objectives through management of the outbound schedule, and analyzing variances and non-compliances to initiate corrective actions
- Professional interactions with customers and vendors
- Ability to recruit, orient, coach, motivate, and supervise staff
- Ability to operate a forklift, scissor-lift, and switcher truck.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED required
- Some college or an Associate's Degree preferred
- Proven work experience as a Warehouse / Outbound Shipping Supervisor or Leader
- Expertise Warehouse management and best practices
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of Warehouse / Outbound Shipping Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Previous experience with ERP and Scheduling systems
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Leadership skills and ability to manage staff
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend in the English Language
Additional Information
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a warehouse/shipping facility where temperatures vary depending on the season. This position requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting to 50 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, kneeling, and crawling. This position also requires the ability to operate the switcher truck during all seasons and weather conditions.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, standard days/hours are Monday – Friday 7am - 4:30 pm with the flexibility of some early hours, evening hours, and weekend work when needed.
Travel
- No overnight or long-distance travel expected for this position
- Local travel may be required for errands and offsite raw material storage
