Job Description

Under the supervision of the Supply Chain Supervisor, the Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the shipping/receiving and handling of all plant materials and finished goods. They are also responsible for optimizing the use of storage space and ensuring that the goods are handled properly and safely.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attends daily production meetings in order to report on the status of all transportation activities in the last 24 hours
  • Attends daily transportation meetings to discuss objectives, problems and action plans
  • Oversees unloading of trucks, and documents processes
  • Ensures that goods received are inspected for compliance and not damaged
  • Ensures that the receiving procedures for each material are in compliance with regulations
  • Works closely with the Supply Chain Supervisor and Production Manager to validate delivery schedules
  • Manages/organizes orders to be delivered according to required transports
  • Validates all requirements for the transportation of goods with all carriers
  • Prepares shipping documents in accordance with the customer’s order and according to the requirements of each carrier
  • Contacts carriers to schedule the pickup and delivery of goods
  • Ensures that products are properly prepared and identified prior to shipment
  • Ensures that goods to be shipped comply with shipping order
  • Verifies that containers are clean and procedures are followed
  • Ensures that each customer’s shipping requirements are met
  • Tracks deliveries/shipments
  • Performs loading and unloading of trucks with forklift as needed
  • Traces products that are misplaced or shipped to the wrong location
  • Responds quickly and efficiently to various shipping issues and ensures customer satisfaction
  • Other duties as assigned by Supply Chain Supervisor

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Logistics and/or Transportation degree or certification preferred
  • Minimum of (3) to five (5) years experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of rail and road transportation laws and regulations
  • Experience with SAP in a manufacturing environment required
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to successfully operate a forklift in a warehouse setting
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime as needed
