Job Description

As a Medical Escort with International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll accompany patients to medical appointments in Qatar and help coordinate the information, records, transportation, and follow-up required throughout their care. Working with patients, healthcare providers, interpreters, and clinical teams, you'll assist with check-in and discharge, facilitate referrals, maintain accurate documentation, and protect patient confidentiality.

Employment Type: Full-time

Assignment Location: This position is based onsite in Qatar and requires relocation.

Assignment Type: Unaccompanied. The assignment is for the employee only; spouses, children, and other dependents cannot accompany the employee as part of the assignment.

On-Call Requirements: Participation in an on-call rotation and twice-yearly mass-casualty drills is required. The role may occasionally involve hours beyond the normal workday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from medical facilities and assist them through check-in, appointments, discharge, and checkout.
  • Communicate medical terminology and relevant context accurately among patients, physicians, interpreters, and clinical staff.
  • Coordinate transportation, appointments, and referrals to support timely access to care.
  • Obtain medical records from healthcare providers and provide relevant medical information to clinical staff as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant documentation within the Care Coordination System.
  • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of patient information by following medical privacy requirements and completing required privacy and nondisclosure training.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and follow established infection-control protocols.
  • Respond professionally to patient inquiries, telephone calls, and messages.
  • Provide administrative support to case management and billing and coding functions, including cross-training to support operational needs.
  • Participate in daily operations, office meetings, task-force groups, workflow improvement initiatives, on-call coverage, and required compliance education.
  • Communicate with cultural awareness and respect when working with patients, clients, and colleagues in a multinational environment.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of healthcare experience.
  • Experience working in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, patient confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain the provided American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
  • Ability to obtain a base security clearance.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to Qatar for an unaccompanied international assignment.
  • Valid passport from your country of record in your possession before relocation, with the ability to maintain a current passport throughout the assignment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods and to bend, stoop, and lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in on-call coverage and occasionally work beyond the normal workday.

Preferred

  • Current, unrestricted nursing license from your country of origin.
  • Experience handling medical records or supporting patient administration in a clinic or hospital.
  • Ability to obtain the provided Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
