Job Description
As a Medical Appointment Scheduler, also referred to as a Medical Appointment Clerk, you'll help patients access care by coordinating appointments and maintaining accurate schedules within a military healthcare environment. Working with patients, providers, and clinic nursing staff, you'll manage appointment requests, verify eligibility, update patient information, and support efficient daily clinic operations while delivering professional customer service.

Compensation:
- $15.09-$18.86 USD per hour
- Health & Welfare (H&W): Up to $5.09 per hour, in accordance with the Service Contract Act (SCA).
Schedule: PRN coverage is scheduled as needed, Monday-Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. No evenings, nights, overtime, on-call responsibilities, or work on federal holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments received by telephone, secure messaging, and other approved scheduling methods while supporting timely access to care.
- Maintain accurate appointment schedules using government healthcare systems, including Composite Health Care System (CHCS), AHLTA, or MHS GENESIS.
- Verify patient eligibility through DEERS, update demographic information, and register eligible patients when required.
- Maintain accurate schedules and logs, monitor appointment availability, and process appointment changes using established scheduling tools and protocols.
- Contact patients regarding appointment scheduling, reminders, cancellations, and rescheduling needs.
- Create and route telephone consultation messages, or T-CONs, to primary care managers and clinic nursing staff according to established procedures.
Qualifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least six months of experience in an office setting.
Preferred
- Medical terminology knowledge.
