Job Description

Provide advanced Phase I post-anesthesia recovery care within a structured perioperative environment supporting high-acuity surgical recovery workflows. Working alongside anesthesiology providers, surgeons, perioperative nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams, this PACU Registered Nurse (RN) role supports safe patient recovery, rapid clinical assessment, and continuity of care across complex post-operative settings.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday

This role offers the opportunity to practice within a highly coordinated surgical recovery environment supported by established clinical workflows, modern documentation systems, and collaborative perioperative teams focused on patient safety and recovery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Phase I post-anesthesia recovery care including airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, pain control, nausea management, and recovery stabilization
  • Monitor high-acuity post-surgical patients requiring advanced assessment, invasive line management, and complex recovery intervention
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and recovery-related treatments while supporting perioperative medication administration and recovery support protocols
  • Utilize MHS GENESIS for real-time patient documentation, recovery assessments, and interdisciplinary communication
  • Coordinate patient handoffs and collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and inpatient care teams to support efficient patient transitions and unit readiness

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state or territory
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program; BSN required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • 2+ years of current Phase I PACU inpatient recovery experience or 1 year of critical care experience
  • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred

  • Post-anesthesia recovery training or coursework
  • CPAN certification
  • Experience within hospital-based perioperative services, complex surgical recovery environments, or integrated healthcare systems
