Job Description

Support Veterans through high-quality diagnostic and interventional radiology care in a mission-driven federal healthcare setting. This role is ideal for an Interventional Radiologist who values clinical excellence, collaboration, teaching, and meaningful service.

Location: South Texas Veterans Health Care System
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; may change based on service needs

Position Overview

International SOS Government Services is seeking an Interventional Radiologist Physician to support Imaging Services at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. This position provides diagnostic and interventional radiology services, ensures timely reporting and communication of results, supports imaging patient safety, and helps educate radiology residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic and interventional radiology services across Imaging Services.
  • Interpret imaging studies and document results in the digital medical record.
  • Communicate critical findings verbally when required.
  • Use advanced PACS and voice recognition systems.
  • Provide consultations and comparative reports for referring providers.
  • Participate in clinical conferences, committees, and interdisciplinary discussions.
  • Oversee patient safety, including contrast administration and response to adverse reactions.
  • Review imaging requests, protocols, preparations, and related medication orders.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor radiology residents in procedures and interpretation.
  • Provide education to medical staff through conferences, committees, and lectures.
  • Participate in quality control, quality management, peer review, and special projects.

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent medical degree.
  • Current, full, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or Washington, DC.
  • Completion of approved residency training leading to board certification eligibility.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong computer skills, including PACS and voice recognition systems.
  • Ability to provide interventional radiology services, reporting, consultation, and critical-results communication.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified U.S. citizens are unavailable under VA policy.
  • Must complete onboarding, credentialing, privileging, background/security investigation, and required documentation.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical and comply with applicable drug testing requirements.
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required.
  • Selective Service registration required for males born after December 31, 1959.
  • May be required to serve a probationary period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship or residency training in interventional radiology.
  • Board certified or board eligible in interventional radiology.
  • Proficiency in multimodality and multi-organ-system diagnostic radiology.
  • Experience teaching and performing interventional radiology procedures.
  • VA, federal healthcare, academic medical center, or hospital-based imaging experience.
