Job Description

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.  VAMC primary care physician assistant shall cover the range of Family Practice services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinic appointments and follow-up of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.
  • Clinic Responsibilities: personnel shall be present and on time for clinic start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
  • Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in-place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
  • Medications: Contract personnel shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
  • Discharge education: Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
  • Approximately 5% of time will be spent on various administrative tasks, reports, emails, etc.
  • Clinic or Operating Room (OR) Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch
  • Care coverage will be provided at 80 hours every 2 weeks
  • Off hour coverage is not currently required but scheduling is subject to change. Other duties as assigned by International SOS and Fayetteville VAM

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:

  • Current, full and unrestricted license in one or more state, commonwealth, territory or DC.
  • Applicants who have ever had a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application are not eligible.
  • Active certification in the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field within the last five years.
  • Previous VA or Military experience preferred but not required.

Education Required:

  • Master’s degree from a PA program accredited by the ARC-PA This degree must have been accredited and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/clinic work environment.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.

Other Special Qualifications:

  • US Citizen (Permanent residents can be discussed on a case by case basis) 
  • Must be local or relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance

Compensation | Min: $102,000 Max: $152,000

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
