Thesis project for IKEA Food, Spring 2023
- Full-time
Company Description
At IKEA Food we are passionate food lovers that from our Malmö office develop and provide food for the many people around the world. Every year 680 million visitors experience a taste of Sweden in the IKEA Restaurants, Swedish Food Markets and Bistros in our different markets.
With an ambitious health- and sustainability agenda, we want to deepen our knowledge base on the concept of sustainable nutrition and find ways to integrate it into our product development process.
We are looking for you with an interest in food, nutrition, and sustainability to lead this project and deliver a tool we can use to create better food for people and the planet.
Job Description
We are looking for a food/nutrition student to write their Master or Bachelor thesis.
The aim of the assignment is to create a deeper understanding of the robustness of our internal nutritional profiling system (NPS) IFNPS by comparing with other external NPSs, e.g., Nutriscore. This includes:
- Perform nutritional evaluation of IFNPS by comparing towards externally available front-of-pack (FOP) nutrition labelling systems.
- Identify strengths, gaps or challenges in IFNPS that can be used to support ongoing and future communication activities, and feed into review and updates of INFPS.
- Perform a field study to investigate purchasing behavior based on provided nutrition information in the form of FOP solutions, either based on IFNPS or e.g., Nutriscore.
The assignment will include scientific research and benchmarking as well as development of a field study framework to investigate difference between different NPSs. By the end of the assignment, the student should be able to present a science-based recommendation for the performance of IFNPS, improvement possibilities of the IFNPS as well as give insights on consumer behaviors related to NPSs in general and the ones included in the study in more detail.
