Inter IKEA Range & Supply is a core business within Inter IKEA Group, responsible for developing and supplying the global IKEA range. IKEA of Sweden AB is one of two core units within Range & Supply and is responsible for developing and determining the IKEA range and making it available to stores and customers all over the world. IKEA of Sweden is based in Älmhult – the heart of IKEA and the centre of IKEA range development and supply chain.

The Media Relations and Newsdesk Team is working in a global context with both planned and unplanned PR editorial and social media content. The team plays a central part in identifying stories and angles, develop content and share communication around how IKEA Range and Supply develops and supplies its products and range. We support the business and all IKEA markets with proactive content, incoming media requests and advice when IKEA is being challenged.

Job Description

As a Press Officer, you are a team player responsible for leading planned and unplanned PR strategies connected to our business goals and priorities, our product development and range as well as supply chain operations. You will be assigned the responsibility to work with the PR agenda within a specific focus area, and within those topics, you identify and run long term, proactive PR opportunities and contribute as a part to the Marketing & Communication plan. You also cater for the best possible support for the unplanned PR requests coming from the business, media and IKEA colleagues in the markets.

Your tasks include upholding and developing relevant global media relations, ensure follow up on PR activities and communication to affected internal stakeholders.  You are also expected to give the best possible proactive and reactive PR support in the unplanned stream and take an active part and contribute to the general risk process. As a Press Officer, you take the lead in situations when IKEA is challenged and secures trained spokespersons.

You are also part of Range & Supply on-duty function and a part of the One IKEA on-duty function, and you act as second-line support for incoming media request. Within your area, you support in securing content for the editorial news flow.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you have an eye for a good story and ideas on how to carry it out. We believe that you have a strong knowledge of the media landscape and logics, social media landscape and in-depth knowledge in earned media. You also need to have knowledge of media monitoring and extensive knowledge and experience of Public Relations in general and how it is used towards different target groups. You also need a strong understanding of how communication affects the stakeholder perception of the IKEA brand and have an excellent capability to judge messaging for external communication. Experience from working with media relations in an international context is qualifying.

You’re fluent in English, and it’s needless to say that you have an excellent ability to communicate verbally and to write in an inspirational way with IKEA tone of voice.
