IKEA Components task within IKEA is to pursue the development of future unique and customer friendly solutions within fittings and components to the IKEA range. We create substantial cost and quality benefits for IKEA in our development and trade of raw materials, components and fittings. Through co-operation with IKEA Purchasing Offices we are in addition represented at several other sites around the world.
About the job
As Development Engineer within Electrical Components, your task is to develop components for products mainly within the IKEA Home Smart and Lighting range. These are ranges where IKEA, in many parts, is stepping in to new areas and there is an increasing need for development of smart, safe and functional electronics. Within IKEA we normally call this Democratic design. In all our products we want to combine function, quality, sustainability, form and a low price and this will be the aim in your daily development work. You should also secure the component performance and compliance for its entire life cycle. Since you will develop components used in a great number of IKEA products your work will have a large impact on the everyday life of our customers.
About the assignment
Some of your tasks include:
• Develop electronic components for IKEAs products; such as power supplies, dimmers, touch interfaces, USB as well as wireless charging units.
• Work in close collaboration with the engineering team and the product development team at IKEA of Sweden, as well as our external partners; our suppliers and local business teams being key partners in development.
• Secure the complete documentation during the development and life cycle of the component.
• Being involved in the certification and testing process together with the engineering team and external partners.
Qualifications
We believe that you have an education in electronics or electro-mechanics, and/or relevant work experience in product development. As a person you are analytical and have a willingness to share your knowledge. IKEA is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world, and therefore you need to be fluent in English.

This is a permanent position based in Älmhult, an inspirational working environment, based on creativity and innovation, which gives you the opportunity to work and interact with people from all around the world. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö, and an IKEA shuttle bus run back and forth to Helsingborg two times a day.
