Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Deputy Sustainability Compliance Manager is an important leadership role in sustainability compliance function. Together with PLA Sustainability Compliance Manager, he or she is responsible to secure that all IKEA requirements related to Sustainability are met by IKEA business partners in a Purchase and Logistic Area. He or she is also responsible to lead, inspire and empower the sustainability compliance team on the sites to perform the best of their abilities and continuously develop in the assignments. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation of Sustainability Compliance requirements in close cooperation with business development teams and other IKEA units

  • Provide IWAY verification services across IKEA units

  • Lead the implementation of the global working methods, tools and IT system for sustainability compliance (such as SRDB, SSTS etc.)

  • Provide sustainability compliance related input to category action plans;

  • Ensure continuous improvement in relevant compliance areas in order to achieve IKEA Sustainability goals

  • Responsible for local community involvement activities, according to guidelines, policies and working methods

  • Responsible for basic sustainability trainings and all levels of IWAY trainings for coworkers, compliance auditors and suppliers, including calibration between IWAY auditors and other relevant roles

  • Within the Sustainability Compliance Matrix, actively contribute in the areas of developing better ways of working, processes, frameworks and tools.

  • As part of Purchase Operations Area Management Team, contribute to identify and act on regional opportunities and synergies

  • Responsible for recruitment, development, performance management, retention and succession plans for co-workers directly in her / his team

  • Responsible for driving leadership and competence agenda: Identify needs and gaps, and build leadership and competence plans to meet short and long term business needs within the area of responsibility

  • At any time, act as an ambassador of IKEA values and role model for fact-based business leadership

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Deep and up to date knowledge of Sustainability Compliance topics.

  • Knowledge of country specific legislation.

  • Deep knowledge of IWAY Standard, forestry, cotton, water, leather, down and feather requirements and related documents including Common IWAY Auditing.

  • Good knowledge of supplier capabilities, materials, services and production.

  • Capability to identify and capture opportunities and deliver results through engaging and motivating people.

  • Doing business with a holistic view. Always having Customer, Supplier, total IKEA and total cost development in mind.

  • Capability to analyses and draw conclusions which leads to right business decision and implementations.

  • Capability of project and assignment management.

  • Capability of remote leading people and crossing BU managing tasks.

  • Capability of internal and external stakeholder management.

  • Capability to communicate clearly in an inspiring way.

  • Have the potential and ambitious to be the next SCM or contributing in bigger scope.

Additional Information

Candidates with below knowledge is preferred:

  • Good knowledge of IKEA Strategic Landscape, specially purchasing and Sustainability Strategies

  • Good knowledge of IKEA Business Model and Business Model for Growth;

  • Good knowledge of how your everyday work adds customer value by delivering to Democratic Design;

  • Good knowledge of Home Furnishing Business plans, Category Plans and total cost;

  • Good knowledge of IKEA Purchasing Manual.
