Product Development Engineers, IKEA of Sweden, Älmhult

We are now looking for talents to join IKEA of Sweden in the next 6 to 12 months as Product Development Engineers. This is an advert to build up a pool of candidates whom we will invite for an interview day in Älmhult in February 2018.

About the assignment

As a Product Development Engineer you are an important contributor in the product development process and the creation of new products with customer satisfaction in mind. You will lead the technical development in the product development process to secure creative, production adapted solutions that exceed customer expectations. You will have the exciting task to lead a team of highly skilled engineers and together you will help to develop the IKEA product range for the many people. You will be in close dialogue with internal and external stakeholders to secure successful implementation, and to spread your technical knowledge further than your technical team of peers. You will work with both new product developments as well as with improvements of the running range.

As a Product Development Engineer you will actively search information and knowledge contributing to technical development and innovative solutions and share this with product development team members. You are highly involved in defining the product development project as well as securing the right competence and resources from a technical perspective. You will be responsible overall for leading and making sure the technical development projects are carried through and delivered in time, and following up on the results. Delivery, leadership and working with people are a large focus in this role.

Qualifications

You have a university degree in engineering and experience working in the technical product development process. You have a proven track record of successfully leading a team as well as interacting with different internal and external stakeholders to build a network. We believe that the person we look for have a good understanding of the challenges at stake in this role, drawn for participation in development projects which includes that she or he is mature enough to lead in the unknown.

As a person you are energetic, driven and determined! You have an entrepreneurial spirit as well as great communication and convincing skills. You have the capability to build strong relations with all stakeholders as well as creating team dynamics with the people you are interacting with. You also need to have a holistic view on strategic business decisions and you are curious and eager to find new and better ways of doing things. Preferably you have been working with the following material/materials:

  • Metal
  • Wood
  • Textiles

This is a permanent position based in Älmhult, an inspirational working environment, based on creativity and innovation, which gives you the opportunity to work and interact with people from all around the world. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö, and an IKEA shuttle bus run back and forth to Helsingborg two times a day.
