ABOUT THE JOB 


IKEA has centralized operations for import/export purposes in Customs Service Centers (CSC). This position will be to facilitate efficiency and control of the import/export operations assigned to North America. The centralized activities include, but are not limited to handling of customs related certificates and documents, customs entry writing and validation activities, import clearance monitoring, control and payment of customs and brokerage bills as well as post entry controls. In addition the Service Centers provide audit, process development support. The Customs Operations Specialist will support one or more countries in import/export operations and handles the centralized parts of the import process.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT Your main tasks will include:
•Daily handling of information and documents to or from other IKEA units, external service providers and authorities to ensure timely, accurate and compliant entry and release from authorities
•Entry preparation/writing for transmission of entry data to external service provider for entry submission purposes. Applies for imports and exports for assigned region or country
•Identify, follow up and take action on inaccuracies and deviations
•Secure compliance in every customs declaration. Perform analysis, investigations and resolutions as necessary to ensure entry compliance and timely clearance
•Secure communication with other IKEA units, external service providers and authorities where IKEA standards are not met
•Contribute to a constant development and awareness of the processes
•Maintain competence regarding rules and the countries legislation
•Maintain competence about the goods flow in your countries
•Maintain competence about which information are used in the systems applications
•Responsible for updating desk top standard operation procedures and working routines for your assigned tasks and/or countries
•Secure that you reach yours and the departments goals
•Support to your local partners in the countries that you work with
•Assume responsibility and support other tasks and projects as assigned

YOUR PROFILE: Your knowledge, skills and experience include:

Knowledge
•University or Technical Institution degree required or equivalent work experience
•Three or more years experience in a Customs brokerage environment
•Customs Brokerage License a plus
•Prefer some history in logistics or supply chain
•Good ability to document and communicate in a clear way regarding manuals and working methods
•Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
•Strong PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access) at an intermediate or advanced level
•Must be able to work independently but contribute to the whole of the team
•Good knowledge in both speaking and writing in English
