Job Description

The Legal Counsel supports all legal aspects of the New Business & Innovation function within Range & Supply, as well as other technology focused areas with focus on commercial agreements with a substantial part of IP content. Furthermore, the Legal Counsel has a continuing responsibility to support the business in order to secure the rights and assess the obligations in order to reduce exposure to legal risks and enable commercial opportunities for IKEA, in connection mainly with the New Business & Innovation department.

The assignment includes:
• Support business to set up strategic principles for development collaboration projects
• Draft agreements to enable successful development collaborations and support negotiations
• Monitor and secure the legal aspects of New Business & Innovation related matters,
• Give day to day assistance on legal matters within contract management, commercial-, development-, and collaboration agreements, intellectual property rights, partnership management and dispute resolution.
• Working in close collaboration with the New Business & Innovation IP team.
• Support the Legal Strategy and thereto connected goals.
• Ensure and maintain a good cooperation with and between core areas, group functions and other function/ areas.
• Provide advice to relevant stakeholders on opportunities to optimise their legal position in order to reduce exposure to risks and optimise opportunities.
• Keep updated in relevant legal developments.

You will be based in Älmhult and report to the General Counsel for Range & Supply.

Qualifications

You have completed a degree in law and have about 10 years of relevant professional experience as an in-house legal counsel or lawyer in an international legal- or business environment, focusing on commercial contracts with a high degree of IP content. You have a solid understanding of legal systems (or have the ability to acquire), in countries where IKEA conducts business and operations. You have a sound understanding and a sincere interest in business, especially technology enhancements and development and you are passionate about contributing with your knowledge to enable the business and optimise our performance.
