Job Description

The role involves identifying, targeting, and securing new institutional and organizational partnerships to expand Open Access publishing agreements. As an Open Research Account Specialist, you will manage and grow strategic institutional relationships while advocating for open research and access solutions, supporting Taylor & Francis’s expansion in the academic ecosystem.

This is a pan-India role, focusing on key institutions, and will involve extensive travel to universities and research organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage high-potential partners, including universities, research societies, and grant funders, to align open research solutions with institutional goals.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of institutions by tracking OA adoption trends, mandates, and market dynamics.
  • Manage and grow institutional accounts, acting as a trusted partner and driving adoption of open research solutions within institutional workflows.
  • Conduct consultative and pre-sales engagements, including presentations, workshops, and solution discussions, to demonstrate the value and impact of open access publishing.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including academic leaders, administrators, funders, and policy influencers.
  • Identify white space opportunities (untapped institutions or regions) and expand outreach accordingly.
  • Represent Taylor & Francis at conferences, campuses, and industry forums to build visibility and strengthen partnerships.
  • Analyse market trends and insights to refine engagement strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, marketing, and product) to drive partnership strategies and track progress through CRM tools.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in account management, partnerships, business development, or academic engagement within publishing or academic services.
  • Proven track record of managing institutional relationships and driving solution adoption.
  • Strong understanding of research publishing and open access is highly desirable.
  • Ability to engage with senior institutional and government stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the higher education ecosystem, including faculty, administration, and procurement processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Consultative, solution-oriented approach with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from data.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.

When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.

The successful candidate will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our Delhi office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office location to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.​
