Job Description

This role is based in our London Blackfriars office.

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Manager to join Omdia's Data Architecture & Engineering team and lead the establishment of best practices across market data and information governance. You will play a pivotal role in our journey to centralise data collection and transformation practices, building a scalable data platform that underpins Omdia's research content and product offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Establish and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks for market and industry data across Omdia's research portfolio
  • Develop and maintain data taxonomy standards, ensuring consistency and scalability across all data collection and transformation processes
  • Lead the design and implementation of data quality frameworks, metadata management systems, and data lineage tracking
  • Drive the centralization of data governance practices to support Omdia's evolving data platform strategy

Team Management

  • Manage and develop a team of 3 data professionals (Data Governance Analyst, Data Management Analyst, and new hire)
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and career development opportunities for team members
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation in data governance practices

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with the Head of Data Architecture & Engineering and VP Operations to align data governance initiatives with broader operational objectives
  • Collaborate with research teams, product managers, and engineering stakeholders to ensure data governance standards support content creation workflows
  • Present governance strategies and progress to senior leadership, translating technical concepts into business value

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee data quality monitoring and remediation processes across market data sources
  • Establish data stewardship protocols and ensure compliance with internal and external data standards
  • Drive automation of governance processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Manage vendor relationships and data licensing agreements to ensure governance compliance

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data governance, data management, or related analytical roles
  • Proven experience with data taxonomy development, metadata management, and data lineage tools
  • Strong understanding of market research data, industry analysis, or business intelligence environments
  • Experience with data quality frameworks and governance best practices
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence
  • Previous team leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to step into a management role
  • Understanding of regulatory basics (GDPR, PDPA, HIPAA, etc.) and Governance frameworks design.
  • Experience with data lineage, metadata management, and IAM. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with modern data platforms, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data cataloging tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica, etc.
  • Knowledge of research content workflows and market intelligence data sources
  • Experience in technology or media industry environments
  • Project management certification or demonstrated project leadership experience
