Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join a global banking environment, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of critical applications and services operating in a 24/7 production setup.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing incidents, service requests, monitoring activities, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting core banking applications. You will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence while driving automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reliability.

The position requires close collaboration with global teams, participation in disaster recovery activities, and continuous improvement of operational processes through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L1/L2 application support for business-critical banking applications in a 24/7 environment.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure health, ensuring high availability and service quality.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, service requests, and production issues within agreed SLAs.
  • Support production deployments, releases, and change management activities.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Bash.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution activities.
  • Collaborate with global technology, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, resilience, and reliability.
  • Maintain operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
  • Ensure compliance with ITIL best practices and operational standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Operations, Application Support, Site Reliability Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Strong expertise in Linux environments, including CLI administration and shell scripting.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Travis CI, or Concourse.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools, including Ansible and Terraform.
  • Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or IBM Cloud.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and automating scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical applications within financial services or banking environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on service reliability and operational excellence.
  • Fluent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Hat Automation Certification.
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or equivalent Kubernetes certification.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.
  • Experience with Core Banking applications and financial transaction processing systems.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and operational best practices.
