Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing insightful financial information to support business decision-making. This role will partner with the business and act as an expert in understanding the company's drivers in leading a culture of accountability for results. The SFA will work with a high level of independence, identifying opportunities and creating/implementing solutions.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
- Overall P&L for area of responsibility (e.g. Retail or Online)
- Net Margin, Category Contribution, EBITDA, Net Income, NMROI (Net Margin Return on Investment) for areas of partnership (i.e. Retail or Online P&L)
- Expense and overhead ratios
- Forecasting and budgeting accuracy
- Business case accuracy
- Quality and timeliness of work
- Value created in business areas through business partner feedback
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
- Partner with leaders in the business to drive business insights that lead to sound financial decisions
- Provide financial expertise to other functional areas of the organization by understanding the ins and outs of their business.
- Strong financial modelling skills and ability to translate a business problem into a model in multiple ways; contribute to the innovation of current financial models
- Build new financial models; can work through assumptions, make linkage between model results and provide insights independently to recommend to business owners.
- Generate financial analysis and insights to support business cases or post evaluations of initiatives.
- Lead the financial budgeting and forecasting processes for business units
- Work with business unit management to review & challenge assumptions by having a full understanding of business unit drivers and historical trends
- Ensure budgets and forecasts are aligned with corporate strategy
- Assist in developing and implementing opportunities to improve and streamline business processes
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and recommendations to management
- Conduct analytics and provide executive-level insight
- Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes
- Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
- Embrace and seek out technology that creates high-tech and high-touch solutions for Indigo’s customers
- Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them

- Ability to influence executive decision-making through factual analysis

- Works collaboratively and constructively with team and cross-functional partners
- Share technical knowledge with others and actively seek to learn from those more knowledgeable than yourself
- Provide guidance & training to other FP&A team members

Qualifications
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
- University degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred
- CPA is considered an asset
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
Competencies / Skills / Attributes
- Strategic thinker/business minded
- Exposure to the areas of financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis
- Exceptional skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- The retail industry experiences an asset
