Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

The Manager of Gift Cards is responsible for managing the overall selection and assortment of gift cards and related material, as well as executing its innovation strategy to maximize business. This position leads the strategic development of impactful merchandising strategies, manages partner relationships, negotiates card fees and continuously looks for opportunity to improve ROI. In addition, this role elevates and generates focus for gift card sales in Retail, Online, 3rd party and Corporate, as well as manages procurement, inventory, and reporting for gift cards and collateral.

  • Develop and execute the annual gift card strategy; and provide commentary on weekly sales
  • Act as a liaison with Marketing and Sales tools on a variety of platforms
  • Conceive and test gift card’s ability to drive net margin through innovative promotions.
  • Manage, communicate and motivate business performance by:
    • Improving the performance monitoring and store level diligence with internal partners
    • Identifying best practices and opportunities for improvement with external partners
  • Build existing and seek new gift card partnerships that accelerate growth and drive 3rd party revenue, contract management and performance
  • Maintain a high level of quality and effectiveness of vendor relationships by ensuring optimal performance through negotiations, working arrangements, and resolution of issues
  • Explore opportunities to improve business processes and cost structure
  • Oversee all signage and gift card planogram outposts for all departments involved
  • Act as the key owner for stores by facilitating a quick response and resolution to inventory, signage issues and concerns

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • 5-8 years of work experience in a gift card or category management field
  • University education
  • Solid experience in consumer and brand marketing
  • Strong work experience and understanding of the Canadian retail environment
  • Proven category management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical approach to marketing initiatives and success measurement
  • Customer focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities at one time while delivering results
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude with a high degree of self-motivation and dynamism
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be a team player
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Strong willingness to accept accountability and ownership, with a desire for continual improvement
