The Marketing & Innovation Director partners with the Vice President / General Manager and Business Unit leaders in directing and leading the Marketing function for the Division. Primarily, providing innovation, product management, and integrated marketing communications leadership for a $150 + million revenue business unit with 200+ employees operating across multiple facilities to meet strategic objectives and deliver financial goals.
Job Description
The Marketing & Innovation Director will lead a multi-site team of Product Managers and Marcomm professionals to build long-range product growth strategies across a matrix of chemical and cleaning product categories, distribution and direct channels, and various industrial manufacturing end-user industries. The Director will primarily partner with the Director of R&D and segment Sales Directors in this effort.
The optimal candidate will be a change-agent who can institute an effective and scalable system on innovation and product portfolio management that will shift the Division’s growth engine towards differentiated, sustainable, innovation and commercial execution excellence.
Core Responsibilities:
- Directs the development and implementation of products strategies from ideation and concept to end of life management.
- Leads cross-functional teams to drive technology breakthroughs implement new product roadmaps and plans, and ensure solutions are delivered on-time and on-budget.
- Develops business cases for new products, services, and/or customers.
- Works with customers and the sales team to define key requirements and develop new opportunities for profitable growth.
- Manage pricing and develops strategies to maximize profitability.
- Builds and implements marketing plans that grow market share, increase brand equity, create differentiation, and promote solution value propositions.
- Delivers financial commitments, including revenue, margin, and market share.
- Leads and develops talent to maximize individual, team and organization effectiveness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to think at both a strategic and tactical level. Ability to convert strategy to action.
- Possess solid business and financial acumen.
- Experience with quantitative data analysis. Ability to demonstrate ROI for marketing by tracking % revenue contribution arising from marketing activity.
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to drive consensus cross regionally and cross functionally.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution in a deadline driven environment.
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Experience with “new” media and specifically social and professional networks media marketing, with an omnichannel bend.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite (Word. Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Access): and other job-related applications including web-based applications, social media, and the internet.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong teamwork and relationship building skills. Able to lead through persuasion and influencing. Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a diverse creative team environment.
- Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage others.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Results oriented.
- Ability and willingness to effectively train others.
Required Skills and Experience:
- B.S. degree required in business, marketing, engineering or comparable discipline.
- MBA strongly preferred
- 10 + years of progressive marketing experience including 5+ years of product management experience.
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills, including price management and market analysis.
- 5+ years of experience motivating, coaching and training a marketing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Able to work in a standard office environment.
- Must be capable of working for short periods of time in a manufacturing environment, which may require exposure to heat and cold.
- Possess ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able and willing to travel domestically.
- Ability to adapt to the changes in the work environment; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
SAFETY
- Must be capable of and willing to abide by all work rules and, safety, health and environmental instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Might work with chemicals, some might be hazardous. Follow all safety precautions including review of MSDS if necessary.
