Job Description

The Senior Fund Accountant is responsible for the oversight and delivery of fund accounting services for a portfolio of closed‑ended Private Equity structures domiciled in Luxembourg. The role focuses on technical fund accounting, NAV oversight, review of complex transactions and financial statements, and close interaction with clients, auditors, and internal teams.

The position requires strong technical expertise in Luxembourg GAAP, a solid understanding of Luxembourg fund laws and structures (RAIF, SIF, SICAV‑SCA, SCSp, SARLs holding structures), and hands‑on experience with closed‑ended private equity fund mechanics.

What you'll do

Tasks

Fund Accounting & NAV Oversight

  • Act as the primary reviewer and controller for NAV calculations across a portfolio of closed‑ended funds, including feeder/master and SPV structures.
  • Review complex accounting areas, including excused investors, distribution waterfall mechanisms, carried interest, equalisation amongst others
  • Ensure NAVs are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standard (Luxembourg GAAP/IFRS), fund documentation, and agreed accounting policies.
  • Review, challenge and approve NAVs, investor reporting, and supporting workpapers.

Financial Statements & Audit Coordination

  • Review annual and interim financial statements under Lux GAAP and IFRS where applicable.
  • Ensure consistency between NAVs, financial statements, and underlying accounting records.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors during interim and year‑end audits.
  • Prepare and review responses to audit queries, including technical accounting positions and judgmental areas.
  • Contribute to drafting and reviewing accounting policies and disclosure notes.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a key contact for clients, investment managers, and other stakeholders.

  • Explain complex accounting topics (unrealised FX movements, reinvestment mechanics, NAV drivers, equalisation etc) in a clear and pragmatic manner.
  • Participate in client onboarding, including review of legal documentation from an accounting perspective and definition of fund‑specific accounting treatments

Fund Onboarding & System Set‑Up

  • Oversee fund onboarding activities from an accounting perspective, including: Review of fund documentation (LPA, PPM, side letters)
  • Validation of chart of accounts and accounting models
  • Review of data migration and opening balances
  • Ensure correct setup of funds in accounting systems

Risk Management, Controls & Process Improvement

  • Identify accounting and operational risks across the client portfolio and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Review KPIs and deliverables provided by back office or Global Delivery Teams (GCD) and challenge quality and timeliness where required.
  • Support process improvements, standardisation, and automation initiatives within fund accounting

Team Support & Knowledge Sharing

  • Act as a technical reference point for junior team members.
  • Provide coaching, training, and on‑the‑job guidance on private equity and Luxembourg‑specific accounting topics.
  • Support managers in maintaining high technical and quality standards across the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in fund accounting within a private equity environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Luxembourg GAAP and closed‑ended fund accounting and solid understanding of Luxembourg fund structures and legal concepts (ring‑fencing, compartments/sub‑funds, master‑feeder structures).
  • Experience dealing with auditors and client‑facing interactions and professional qualification (ACCA or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Experience with fund accounting systems such as Investran is a strong asset.
  • Fluent in English; French is an advantage.
