LNG Start-up & Operations Engineer

Company Description

The LNG Start-up & Operations Engineer will support the MARSA LNG Bunkering Project in Oman, a strategic initiative under our client (Multinational energy operator) aimed at enabling LNG bunkering as part of the energy transition. The role is embedded within the commissioning and start-up team during the final phases of project completion through first gas and early operations.

Job Description

  • Review commissioning procedures prepared by EPC contractors and ensure alignment with start-up requirements
  • Develop and issue start-up sequences, operating procedures, and system readiness documentation in coordination with engineering and operations teams
  • Ensure all procedures are consistent with vendor recommendations, commissioning logic, and safety requirements
  • Support commissioning and start-up execution, including risk assessments, system checks, and readiness verification
  • Monitor start-up progress and ensure adherence to commissioning priorities and sequence
  • Assist operations during early production for stabilization and optimization of plant performance
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and permit-to-work (PTW) systems throughout all activities

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of Oil & Gas experience, including LNG facilities
  • At least 5 years in commissioning, start-up, or operations roles on large onshore LNG or process plants
  • Strong knowledge of LNG processes, commissioning practices, and SIMOPS
  • Experience in procedure development, operational readiness, and risk analysis
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with contractors, vendors, and operations teams
  • Strong commitment to HSE standards and safe work practices
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
