Job Description

The Director of Finance & Accounting is a hands-on tactical role managing day-to-day responsibilities around revenue processing, expense tracking/analysis, client participation/royalty accounting, financial planning and analysis, month-end close, scheduled and ad-hoc reporting as well as inter-department collaboration. The Director of Finance & Accounting will own certain finance/IT responsibilities, ensuring execution and continued alignment with the overall Finance department’s responsibilities, requirements and goals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate monthly revenue recognition and sales preprocessing procedures
  • Oversee end-to-end monthly client distribution/participation accounting cycle
  • Partner with Controller to complete timely month-end financial close processes
  • Generate monthly financial reporting package and maintain financial reporting tool/software
  • Work with VP/CFO on client advance balance analysis and projecting
  • Support VP/CFO with budgeting and forecasting actvities including detailed modeling and analytical back-up
  • Work with Client Support team on research/response communiqué pertaining to finance & accounting inquiries from clients
  • Assume lead position with Controller managing annual financial audit and interfacing with outside audit firm
  • Perform ‘foresnic accounting’ and ‘troubleshooting’ investigations as required
  • Assist in the management and development of junior team members
  • Assist VP/CFO with tax / international planning
  • Participate in new/to be determined projects

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years experience in finance and accounting with a B.S. degree in finance/accounting, MBA and/or CPA is desirable
  • Extensive experience with i) accounting, royalty/participation and business intelligence systems, ii) budgeting and forecasting, iii) month-end close and reporting processes, iv) auditing, vi) GAAP accounting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deal with tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work outside normal responsibilities to achieve desired results
  • Extremely detail oriented, excellent planning and execution skills with a proven ability to establish and meet impactful goals and objectives
  • Proficiency with the MS-Office Suite, particularly, outstanding Excel skills (e.g. Nested Functions, V-Lookups, Pivot tables, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, ever-changing entrepreneurial environment.
  • Expertise with typical ERP accounting systems and BI/Analytics tools, prior experience Dynamics GP, QlikView, Amazon Web Services as well as proprietary sales & royalty/participation accounting systems is desirable
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Familiarity with the entertainment and/or music industry desired but not required
