We're on the lookout for dynamic, experienced Engineering Leader to join our growing R&D - Quality & Support team.
A Manager – Software Engineering (Engineering Leader) is responsible for the process of delivering software at IFS relating development investments to the overall R&D Product Strategy. The ability to articulate the What and Why to their teams based on their close working relationships with both Product and Program Managers is key to the success of individuals in this role.
Main Duties and Accountabilities
- An Engineering Leader establishes and looks to continuously improve consistent development processes in line with the wider industry to ensure the timely delivery of high quality, secure, and performant software. These processes include but are not limited to automated testing at multiple levels, code reviews, security reviews, and the evolution of the architecture.
- Lead a team of software engineers, quality assurance engineers and DevOps Engineers participating in one or more Agile teams delivering enhancements, architecture initiatives, system, and security upgrades.
- Coach and build both teams and individuals and take responsibility for appraising their direct reports. Each team member should have achievable but stretching goals to allow for personal growth and career development. Should there be the need, poor performance will be addressed for the good of both the individual and the team. Engineering leaders play a key role in the recruitment of team members and will look to upskill the team at any available opportunity.
- Foster good proactive relationships with stakeholders across IFS, including but not limited to colleagues in quality and support. Engineering Leaders will look to minimize the amount of time the teams across R&D spend supporting the product and minimize escalations by delivering high quality, well documented software with a “right first time” approach and attitude. There should be regular engagement with both business and technical stakeholders globally to deliver high quality solutions.
- Have a passion for delivering zero defect code and be responsible for ensuring the team’s deliverables meet or exceed business expectations in terms of quality and timeline.
Qualifications
- Experience in leading globally distributed teams with people management responsibility.
- Experience in planning & forecasting skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Agile approach, DevOps and CI/CD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Natural desire to discover and learn new technologies & processes. Passion for innovation & new ideas. Proactively taking initiative & responsibility.
- A University degree, or equivalent professional qualifications in engineering & delivery of enterprise software solutions.
