What Projects Would I work on?
Structural engineering projects range from complex grade separation projects and large bridges spanning a river with architectural enhancements to box culverts for a rural township over a small ditch. The structural engineers have also designed a variety of hydraulic structures such as dams, floodwalls, gate wells, and some of the most complex lift stations in the region! Job Description
- Prepare detailed engineering analyses, schedules, technical reports, etc.
- Design structural engineering projects together with CAD designers.
- Attend meetings and communicate with other civil engineering disciplines and outside consultants or agencies, to advance structural projects from conceptual level to final design.
- Manage all aspects of contract administration which includes writing, change requests, invoices, and progress payments and maintain project budget and costs.
- Perform in-service safety inspections and load ratings of existing bridges.
- Mentor and oversee the work of less experienced structural engineer team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and construction of structures.
- ND Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months required.
- Experience operating MicroStation OpenRoads preferred (but not required).
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Working knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups both internally and externally.
