Job Description

The House of Commons’ Parliamentary Precinct Operations is currently looking to staff the Chef de Cuisine position.

In this dynamic position, you will lead and oversee all aspects of food services with a focus on excellence, innovation, and impact. As a manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations within your area of responsibility, ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services, while playing a critical leadership role in a fast-paced, client-focused environment where you are responsible for the quality of service your team delivers. You will drive operational performance while crafting high-quality, inspired menus that range from refined haute cuisine to exceptional everyday offerings, all while ensuring the highest standards of quality, cost-efficiency, and client satisfaction.

In addition to your culinary leadership, you will play a key administrative role, managing budgets, overseeing financial planning, and ensuring sound financial management and strong results. You will also mentor a talented culinary team through training, and development, and champion continuous improvement across food services, ensuring every experience reflects excellence and aligns with the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Graduation from a recognized culinary school or program;
  • Professional training and certification received as a “Certified Chef de Cuisine” or equivalent;
  • Certification in food handling and safety (e.g., Safe Food Handling or HACCP certification).

Experiences :

  • Extensive knowledge of cooking techniques, including cook chill processes and practices, presentation, and diverse cuisines;
  • Knowledge of modern and innovative management principles, strategic change theories, business management methods, and financial budgeting techniques;
  • Extensive work experience in the field of haute cuisine, with recognition as a leader in the field;
  • Experience in developing strategies, following through on a vision, and exerting influence within an institutional setting;
  • Extensive experience in monitoring expenses and costs, reconciling accounts, verifying inventory levels, estimating resource requirements and making appropriate recommendations;
  • Computer skills in such applications as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet.

Assets :

  • Certified Master Chef, or the American or European equivalent.
