As a Senior Care Professional, you will be proud to represent Home Instead and be an ambassador for our high-quality services we provide. You will ensure our clients receive the highest care quality experience and our care professionals are supported in the role in the community.
The Role
As a Senior Care Professional, you will be proud to represent Home Instead and be an ambassador for our high-quality services we provide.
Your role will involve a blend of care delivery and field-based support work which can mean travelling across our territory within the West Fife and Kinross area therefore being a car driver is essential.
This role comes with a guaranteed, contracted 28 hours, averaged per week, including alternate weekends. Within the total number of guaranteed hours are a minimum number of care hours and the expectation is that the remaining hours are allocated for support visits or to provide cover for colleagues who are absent from work to help the service to run smoothly. The role attracts an enhanced hourly rate of pay of £13.50 per hour.
Additionally, you will be part of the out-of-hours on-call team alternative weekends (Friday-Sunday) which attracts an additional payment. There is an expectation to provide support to colleagues over the phone, and from time to time, cover client calls at short notice if no other cover is available. It might also include supporting colleagues out in the community in an emergency.
This role will involve working out in the field to deliver care services and as a support to Registered Care Manager and the wider office team. The role reports to the Registered Care Manager (RCM).
Supporting care delivery (in collaboration with the Registered Care Manager)
- Support the start of new care packages
- Conduct client and care giver introductions
- Conduct spot checks to ensure MAR sheets are completed correctly
- Regularly provide feedback on any necessary changes to care plans, schedules etc.
- Conduct periodic client quality assurance checks and complete accurate records
- Provide cover to ensure continuity of care for clients during periods of care giver absence
- Report any concerns regarding clients or care givers to the Care Manager in a timely manner
- Support care givers out in the field, including shadow shifts to help build confidence
Supporting new care givers (in collaboration with the Recruitment Officer)
- Provide practical support and training to new care professionals
- Support the completion of competency checks for care pros
- Conduct support visits for care pros
- Conduct Competency Standards Observations (based on the SSSC Codes of Practice)
- Conduct shadow visits for care pros
- Ensuring staff are using and have access to the correct PPE
- Provide feedback to the RCM and the office team relating to the assessment of care pros
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 7 (SVQ 3) or equivalent or willing to work towards this
- Experience in the care sector delivering a wide range of personal care services
- Experience of working with MAR sheets and medication in a care giving role
- Passion for delivering the highest quality care to our clients and helping them to live independently and happily in their own homes
- Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulations specific to Health and Social Care
- Good communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly
- Must understand the importance of confidentiality working within current legislation
- Must have full driving licence and means of transport if required within the territory to visit clients
- Be organised and flexible to meet the needs of the business
