Job Description

A Home Instead CAREGiver is a kind and friendly person, totally reliable, and compassionate with excellent communication skills. You will be working in a person's own home, however the whole team provide support to you and the client. We are looking for someone who is happy to learn, contribute to the team, and can work under pressure when needed and will enjoy the rewards and responsibility.  

A carer or personal assistant, provides the highest quality care and responsibilities include   

  • Maintaining a  professional and friendly relationship with our client, their family, friends and others involved with their health and well-being  

  • Personal Care – washing, dressing, grooming, continence care. 

  • Companionship – conversation and good company - assist with writing letters enjoying a chat  

  • Activities –  accompanying to outings and social events, and encourage hobbies and pastimes  

  • Plan, prepare and cook nutritious food - rediscovering favourite family recipes 

  • Medication – collecting prescriptions, medication reminders 

  • Light housekeeping – ensuring their home is safe and  tidy

  • Shopping, run errands and accompanying to appointments 

  • Contribute to a positive living environment to enhance a client's quality of life.

  • We work together on what's best for you and for our clients - many of our team work only a few hours a week, (between 12 - 20hrs)  with a regular pattern of work so if you can help our client with breakfast, we ask you to help every other weekend to keep a consistent schedule. Guaranteed hours or zero hours contracts +holiday +pension+paid travel allowance between calls.  

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience of helping others, maybe personal experience of caring for a family member.  Formal care experience isn't required - we provide full paid training. Your passion for taking care of someone else, being friendly whilst staying professional and your references will show that you are reliable, trustworthy and respectful. Our clients may need support with mealtimes including making a proper meal (baking a cake would definitely be an asset but you don't need to be Star Baker!!)  

You will be over 18 -  being a car driver is advantageous as many of our clients live in a rural location.
