About the Department: BestChoice is a system-wide, contingent float pool within Henry Ford Health System, offering flexibility and diverse clinical experiences across various settings. Based at One Ford Place in Detroit's New Center, this role combines the energy of a downtown location with accessibility to public transit and local amenities. Team members have the unique opportunity to work in multiple locations, contributing to a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care.

Role Overview: As a Best Choice-Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care across Henry Ford Health System by floating to various locations where staffing needs arise. Your expertise will help maintain high standards of care during call-ins, census increases, or vacation coverage, ensuring seamless operations and patient safety.

What You Will Do:

  • Float to multiple locations to meet staffing needs.
  • Formulate effective nursing care plans using clinical knowledge and analytical abilities.
  • Perform a wide variety of professional nursing interventions.
  • Identify patient problems before explicit changes in patient-specific data.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

•High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.

•Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technology program required.

•Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

•Minimum of three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES:

•Current BLS certification required.

•Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
