As a Support Helper I, you play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of patient care services at GRMC. You'll assist professional hospital staff, provide essential support to patients and their families, and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient healthcare environment. What You Will Do
- Assist in transporting, transferring, and moving patients safely and efficiently.
- Deliver equipment, specimens, patients, and records throughout the hospital.
- Maintain inventory in stock rooms, carts, and assigned areas.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning rooms, bathrooms, and halls.
- Support general maintenance and clerical tasks as directed.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures for quality and safety.

Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift, move, and assist patients, including objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
- Physical capability to perform essential duties, including bending, stooping, and reaching.

Qualifications
Essential Functions:
- Lift, move, assist, and prepare patients for procedures.
- Moves and uses standard equipment. Mobile throughout the hospital.
- Ability to lean, stoop, bend to floor, reach and retrieve items at overhead height.
- Plan and follow directions. Follow oral and written instructions and orders.
- Good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Must be able to plan and organize shift duties without close supervision or direction.
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally, in writing and by telephone with patients, physicians, other hospital staff, patient families, supervisors and hospital visitors. Must be able to hear warning signals, i.e., whistles, buzzers, or beeps.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with patients, physicians, other hospital staff, families, supervisors and hospital visitors.
- Maintain all required records.
- Ability to operate hospital computer systems.
- Normal manual dexterity.
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing all of the essential duties of the position including the ability to see, hear, bend, stoop, pull, climb, walk, reach, move, lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
