Role Overview

As a Chef at Henry Ford Health, you will play a vital role in coordinating the activities of Cooks and Food Service Assistants to prepare and cook high-quality meals for hospital patients, staff, and visitors. Your expertise will ensure that our food services meet the highest standards, supporting the health and well-being of our community.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate the activities of Cooks and Food Service Assistants in preparing and cooking foods for hospital patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Review daily preparation and production plans and menus, implementing adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure high-quality products are provided in accordance with the overall menu plans of the department.
  • Maintain knowledge of quantity food production techniques and health care food service policies, procedures, and recipes.
  • Obtain and maintain required food safety certifications within 6 months of employment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates Degree in culinary arts, hotel restaurant institution management, or related field, or seven years of commensurate experience in restaurant, hotel, or healthcare operation.
  • Five years of job-related experience.
  • Certification by the Michigan Department of Public Health, The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals, Certified Food Safety Manager, or Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or obtained within 6 months of employment).
