Job Description

Shift Hours: Mon - Fri 10:00 am - 7:00 pm - Sat 7:30 am - 4:30 pm 

Location / Address: 2799 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202

Overview of Position:

Join our dynamic Gastroenterology department as an Endoscopy Technician, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. Working alongside our GI providers in a fast-paced procedural environment, you'll support colonoscopy and EGD procedures while maintaining the highest standards of scope sterilization and infection control. This is an ideal opportunity for a collaborative team player eager to develop specialized skills in a large, busy department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist GI providers during colonoscopy and EGD procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal patient outcomes
  • Prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment according to manufacturer specifications and Infection Control protocols
  • Execute comprehensive scope cleaning and sterilization procedures following established departmental guidelines
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, communicating relevant observations to the nursing team
  • Support patients with compassionate care, addressing their needs and concerns before, during, and after procedures
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, RNs, and clinical staff to maintain a seamless, efficient procedural environment
  • Participate in ongoing orientation and training to build confidence and competency in all departmental functions
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a high-volume setting while maintaining attention to detail

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Certification or training in Medical Assisting, Surgical Technology, or Emergency Medical Services (preferred but not required—we're happy to train the right candidate!)
  • Hands-on experience with endoscopic equipment or scope reprocessing (a plus, but we'll develop your expertise)
  • At least two years of healthcare experience in a clinical or procedural setting (preferred)

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
