Job Description
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs the following duties:
- Distributes and processes prescriptions and over-the-counter medications according to pharmacy protocols
- Enters prescription data into computer systems and maintains accurate billing and file records
- Verifies prescription accuracy, completeness, and proper labeling before dispensing to customers
- Stocks, stores, and maintains pharmacy inventory in organized and accessible locations
- Conducts regular inventory audits and communicates supply needs to management for timely ordering
- Processes payments and manages transactions using cash registers and billing systems
- Interacts professionally with customers and pharmacy staff to address inquiries and resolve issues
- Prepares and labels medications according to prescription specifications and regulatory requirements
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy work environment in compliance with health and safety standards
- Assists the pharmacist with medication counseling preparation and customer education materials
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Previous retail pharmacy of at least 6 months, preferred.
- Typing skills of 25 wpm.
- Ability to operate a cash register, calculator and computer.
- Ability to maintain (lift, carry, stack) up to 40 lbs. of pharmacy inventory.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Valid State of MI pharmacy technician licensure.
